The U8 program encourages movement through basketball-related children’s games. A young player’s basketball experience should be a positive and fun one. Competitive pressures should be discouraged and players should be focused on the “everyone wins” theory. U8 players will be expected to be able to dribble with both hands and become comfortable with shooting and passing. More importantly, they will have fun and develop a love for the game.

Socialization becomes very important. This is where “traditional” basketball is being played. Repetition of skills becomes very important and rules are more defined at this level.
