Lifeguard Training Course
This course instructs participants in both Lifeguarding and CPR/AED for the professional rescuer with First Aid and Administering Emergency Oxygen by the American Red Cross.
This is a blended course. An online portion is required to be completed before attending the in-person portion. All in-person days are required to complete the course. Online portion is emailed out two weeks before the in-person portion. Classes with fewer than 5 participants registered will be canceled and moved to another session.
Pre-requisites:
1. Must be at least 15 years of age before the last scheduled in-person class session.
2. Jump in, submerge, resurface and swim 150 yards (6 lengths) continuously, tread water for 2 minutes, and then swim 50 more yards (2 lengths more). You may swim using the front crawl (freestyle), breaststroke or a combination of both. Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed (but not provided). When treading you must only use your legs.
3. Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Swim goggles are not allowed. Surface dive (head-first or feet-first) to a depth of 7 feet or more to retrieve a 10-pound object. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on your back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping your face at or near the surface. Exit the water without using the ladder or the steps.

Successful completion will gain the participant certification by the American Red Cross, with the exception of the Junior Lifeguarding course.
